McDermitt has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. The McDermitt Bulldogs and the Jackpot Jaguars will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (McDermitt is ranked 105th, while Jackpot is ranked 106th).
Last Saturday, things could have been worse for McDermitt, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 58-43 loss to Lund.
Despite their defeat, McDermitt saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jeremiah Horn, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Northrup, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Jackpot suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Saturday. They were the victim of a rough 66-40 loss at the hands of Owyhee. Jackpot has struggled against Owyhee recently, as their contest on Saturday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
McDermitt has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season. As for Jackpot, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
McDermitt came out on top in a nail-biter against Jackpot when the teams last played on January 5th, sneaking past 47-45. The rematch might be a little tougher for McDermitt since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
