Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead West Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Drea Villarreal, who rushed for 142 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 13 carries. That's the most rushing yards Villarreal has posted since back in August. West Central also got a significant boost from Connor Huber, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 105 yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: West Central was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 293 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 180 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to West Central's defense and their three sacks. Ezra Rodriguez refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Huber got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
LaVille hadn't beaten North Judson-San Pierre on the road since October 6, 2023 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Lancers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bluejays, sneaking past 24-22.
West Central better keep an eye on Cole Stafford. He was instrumental in LaVille's win, rushing for 118 yards and one score. They are undefeated when Stafford posts 100 or more rushing yards, but 3-4 otherwise.
LaVille didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Konnor Amor, Stafford, and Caleb Skiles picked up one apiece. Stafford's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 101 rushing yards. LaVille received some extra help from Stafford, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
West Central's record now sits at 10-1. As for LaVille, their record is now 7-4.
West Central was taken down by LaVille 41-6 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Trojans, Cody Allen (who rushed for 249 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 7.8 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
