Holcomb had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Colby Eagles 53-20. The result was nothing new for the Longhorns, who have now won seven games by 20 points or more so far this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Holcomb to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cooper Cranston, who threw for 158 yards and four TDs on only 15 passes, and also rushed for 41 yards and one touchdown. Those 158 passing yards gave Cranston a new career-high. Chasyn Cosner was another key back, gaining 126 total yards and two touchdowns.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Holcomb was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 237 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Colby only rushed for 100.
Holcomb didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Javid Corral, Haegen Hartman, Luke Thyne, and Cranston picked up one apiece.
Although Colby took the loss, they still got scores from Kade Youngman, Neale Morrison, Nathan Cates, and Talon Wark.
Holcomb pushed their record up to 9-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.
