The Douglas County Huskies had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They enjoyed a cozy 47-31 victory over Castle View on Friday. Douglas County pushed the score to 40-13 by the end of the third, a deficit Castle View cut but never quite recovered from.
Sofia Baldessari continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points and 2 assists. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Douglas County's points. Ciara Laman was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, Castle View still got an impressive performance from Claire Jacobsen, who scored nine points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Annabelle Pedersen, who scored six points.
Even though they lost, Castle View smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Douglas County only pulled down six offensive rebounds.
Douglas County's win bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Castle View, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.
Douglas County will take on Regis Jesuit at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Regis Jesuit focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday. As for Castle View, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Highlands Ranch at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Highlands Ranch has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 279 points over their last four contests.
