Mason Dillon was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has become a key player for Bath County: the team is 4-0-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-12 otherwise. Dillon was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Memphis Beadle, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Colten Carpenter was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Bath County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lewis County struck out eight times.
Meanwhile, Model hadn't done well against Bourbon County recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Patriots blew past the Colonels 9-3. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Patriots as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Like Bath County, Model also got a great game from a two-way player: Kayden Wade. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over 6.2 innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave Wade a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.
In other batting news, Chace Lowery and Sai Bhula did most of the damage at the plate: Lowery got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Bhula got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave Bhula a new career-high in hits (two).
Bath County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-12-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Model, their record is now 5-13.
Bath County skirted past Model 2-1 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Patriots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
