After a string of three wins, the Piedmont Classical Bobcats's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They suffered a tough 72-52 loss at the hands of Bishop McGuinness. While losing is never fun, Piedmont Classical can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 480th, while Bishop McGuinness is ranked 237th).
When it comes to explaining why Piedmont Classical lost, one person who can't be blamed is Colby Carter. Despite the final result, he scored 15 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Carter has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Anderson, who scored nine points.
Piedmont Classical's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-8. As for Bishop McGuinness, their victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-2.
Piedmont Classical will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Cornerstone Charter at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Cornerstone Charter focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 42 on Friday. Bishop McGuinness won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Miller School of Albemarle at 3:00 p.m. on January 13th. One thing working in Miller School of Albemarle's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
