The Madonna Blue Dons will face off against the Weir Red Riders at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Madonna will be looking to extend their current 13-game winning streak.
While Madonna's win against Cameron wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Blue Dons sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Dragons on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Blue Dons have posted since April 16, 2024.
Cameron's batters probably weren't too happy with Reed Wilharm, who pitched a no hitter and racked up ten Ks (he gave up four walks). Wilharm has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Jacob Lazear was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Weir got the win against Beaver Local on Monday by a conclusive 14-1. Considering the Red Riders have won seven matchups by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Lucas McAllister was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. McAllister was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Weir: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 3-12 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Teddy Glyptis, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Cayden Braswell was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Madonna's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Weir, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-13.
Madonna was able to grind out a solid win over Weir in their previous matchup on April 2nd, winning 3-0. Do the Blue Dons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Riders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
