The Piedmont Classical Bobcats will head out on the road to challenge the Carver Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Piedmont Classical focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Wednesday.
Even though Phoenix Academy scored an imposing 58 points, Piedmont Classical still came out on top. Piedmont Classical took their matchup against the Firebirds 71-58. The score was all tied up 29-29 at the break, but Piedmont Classical was the better team in the second half.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Piedmont Classical to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ge'Kayla Goins, who scored 17 points along with eight assists and five steals. Goins has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Keniya Waring was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Carver got the win against the Cardinals on Friday by a conclusive 46-23. Carver pushed the score to 40-12 by the end of the third, a deficit the Cardinals cut but never quite recovered from.
Piedmont Classical has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-8 record this season. As for Carver, the win got them back to even at 9-9.
Piedmont Classical came out on top in a nail-biter against the Yellowjackets when the teams last played back in January, sneaking past 41-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for Piedmont Classical since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
