Spanish River has gone a perfect 10-0 against West Boca Raton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Spanish River Sharks will welcome the West Boca Raton Bulls at 6:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Monday.
Spanish River was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Boca Raton on Thursday. Spanish River put the hurt on Boca Raton with a sharp 15-3 win. With that victory, the Sharks brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.
Abygail Gonzalez made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Kat Arencibia and Giselle Portanova did most of the damage at the plate: Arencibia went 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI, while Portanova went 2-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave Portanova a new career-high in RBI. Riley Ready was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Spanish River kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, West Boca Raton won against Ferguson on Saturday with 13 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. West Boca Raton beat Mater Bay Academy by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 13-4.
Like Spanish River, West Boca Raton also got a great game from a two-way player: Teagan O'Neill. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. O'Neill has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. She also put up two doubles, which were her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Araya Brunner, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Madison Luft, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Spanish River's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-3. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 11 hits in those games compared to only four in the others. As for West Boca Raton, their victory bumped their record up to 2-6.
Spanish River took their win against West Boca Raton in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 9-3. Will Spanish River repeat their success, or does West Boca Raton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
