Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Dawson walked away with it. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the O'Connor Panthers on Saturday. Winning may never get old, but the Eagles sure are getting used to it with their 22nd in a row.
Avery Koonsen paced Dawson's offense, picking up 26 kills. Koonsen got some help from Taylor Ranney and her 47 assists. Isabella Tijerina controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Dawson's victory bumped their record up to 42-4. As for O'Connor, with the loss, they broke their 18-match winning streak and moved their record to 41-6.
Coming up, after both having extra time off, Dawson and Byron Nelson will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another on Saturday. O'Connor does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
