The Westlake Academy Blacksmiths entered their tilt with the King's Academy Knights with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Westlake Academy took their contest at home on Saturday with ease, bagging a 58-8 victory over King's Academy. The result was nothing new for Westlake Academy, who have now won five contests by 46 points or more so far this season.
Westlake Academy was led to victory by Kyren Smith and Andrew Hoang . Smith rushed for 90 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries, while Hoang rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Colby , who picked up 55 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Westlake Academy's victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 5-3. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-8 Highlands and 3-7 King's Academy (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 32.5% over those games). As for King's Academy, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
Westlake Academy will head out on the road to face off against Stephenville FAITH at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. King's Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
