The Somerset Academy Losee Lions and the Cypress Centurions will face off at 5:00 p.m. on December 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Somerset Academy Losee is looking to tack on another W to their 14-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
On Thursday, Somerset Academy Losee faced Cimarron-Memorial in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Somerset Academy Losee had just enough and edged Cimarron-Memorial out 60-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Somerset Academy Losee got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Roderick Johnson out in front who scored 16 points. The matchup was Johnson's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jordan Finley , who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Cypress entered their tilt with Rancho with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Cypress secured a 52-46 W over Rancho on Wednesday. The victory was all the more spectacular given Cypress' disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 64th in California, while Rancho is ranked ninth in Nevada).
Somerset Academy Losee's victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Cypress, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
