The Bishop Kenny Crusaders will head out to challenge the Atlantic Coast Stingrays at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
On Monday, Bishop Kenny came up short against Episcopal School of Jacksonville and fell 7-4. The loss continues a trend for the Crusaders in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost five in a row.
Sophia Mulkey was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She pitched six innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. Mulkey was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Mulkey wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was McKinley Spencer, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Another was Margaux Schuh, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Atlantic Coast won against Flagler Palm Coast on Friday with four runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. Atlantic Coast came out on top against Fletcher by a score of 4-1. The win continues a trend for the Stingrays in their matchups with the Senators: they've now won four in a row.
Morgan Brown spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Skye Deans, who went 2-for-3 with one home run.
Having lost for the first time this season, Bishop Kenny fell to 2-1. As for Atlantic Coast, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Bishop Kenny has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Atlantic Coast struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.7 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bishop Kenny was able to grind out a solid victory over Atlantic Coast in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 10-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bishop Kenny since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
