The Las Animas Trojans will venture away from home to face off against the Buena Vista Demons at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Las Animas 2.8, Buena Vista 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Monday as neither Las Animas nor Rye made it on the board until the tenth inning. The Trojans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Thunderbolts. Those two runs were actually the fewest the Trojans have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Logan Servaes made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Servaes wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Travis Arrona, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Buena Vista waltzed into their matchup on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Everything went their way against the Thunderhawks as they made off with an 18-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Demons, who have now won seven contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Like Las Animas, Buena Vista also got a great game from a two-way player: Elio Ynfante. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That's the most strikeouts Ynfante has posted since back in May of 2025. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hudson Wingo, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Jake Fahrney, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Buena Vista always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .579 or higher in six consecutive games.
Las Animas' record is now 10-2. As for Buena Vista, their record now sits at 8-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Las Animas has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Buena Vista struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Las Animas came out on top in a nail-biter against Buena Vista in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
