The Heard County Braves will head out to square off against the Callaway Cavaliers at 7:30 p.m. Heard County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56 points per game this season.
Heard County will bounce into Friday's contest after beating LaGrange, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Heard County walked away with a 53-42 victory over LaGrange on Saturday. That's two games straight that the Braves have won by exactly 11 points.
Heard County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cameron Latimer, who posted 13 points along with five assists and five boards. Latimer is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Jakari Andrews was another key player, putting up ten points.
Meanwhile, Callaway was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 43-40 heartbreaker at the hands of Lithia Springs. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 443rd, while the Lions are ranked 212th).
Heard County will have to keep a close watch on Landon Thomas and Kaiden James, a pair of players who had a big impact on Callaway's prior game. Thomas dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards, while James went 5 of 9 on his way to 13 points and seven rebounds.
The victory made it two in a row for Heard County and bumps their season record up to 3-5. As for Callaway, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Heard County has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31 boards per game. However, it's not like Callaway struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.4 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
