Monessen is 9-1 against the Pioneers since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Monessen Greyhounds will be staying on the road to face off against the West Greene Pioneers at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Monessen will be strutting in after a victory while the Pioneers will be coming in after a defeat.
Even though Jefferson-Morgan scored an imposing 55 points on Tuesday, Monessen still came out on top. Monessen sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 58-55 win over the Rockets. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Monessen has posted since December 5, 2023.
Meanwhile, West Greene unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 48-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Waynesburg Central.
Monessen's victory bumped their record up to 14-3. As for West Greene, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-6.
Monessen couldn't quite finish off the Pioneers when the teams last played last Wednesday and fell 46-43. Can Monessen avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
