Baseball Recap: Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory Has No Trouble Against Lincoln

Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory won against Menlo-Atherton on Monday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Fightin' Irish were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Lincoln Mustangs. The victory continues a trend for the Fightin' Irish in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won four in a row.

Quinn Middleton made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-9 otherwise. Middleton was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March.

In other batting news, Johnny Nepomuceno was excellent, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Santino Baisman, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win got Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory back to even at 10-10. As for Lincoln, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-11 record.

Coming up, Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory is taking a road trip to take on St. Ignatius College Preparatory at 4:00 p.m. on the 24th. As for Lincoln, they will venture away from home to face off against The Academy - San Francisco at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mustangs are facing the Wolves at the right time seeing as the Wolves are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
