Ozanam lost against the Independence Home School Lions back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Ozanam took a 59-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Independence Home School. Ozanam has struggled against Independence Home School recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Skylar Horn and Talan Olmstead certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Horn dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds, while Olmstead dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. Olmstead is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season.
Independence Home School got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Joe Young out in front who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Daniels, who scored 13 points.
Ozanam's defeat dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Independence Home School, the win (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 14-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ozanam will take on Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Ozanam focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Thursday. As for Independence Home School, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Chesterton Academy of St. Philip Neri at 5:00 p.m. on February 9th. Independence Home School is coming into the contest with seven straight wins at home, meaning Chesterton Academy of St. Philip Neri will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory.
