The Phoebus Phantoms are taking a road trip to square off against the King's Fork Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Phoebus knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully King's Fork likes a good challenge.
Phoebus is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Heritage 21-7 on Thursday. The Phantoms haven't had any issues with the Hurricanes recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Josiah (Beaux) Moore made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Moore was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-5.
In other batting news, Taylor Barnes and Aiden Blunt did most of the damage at the plate: Barnes went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI, while Blunt scored four runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. With that strong performance, Blunt is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Kaedyn Perry, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Phoebus was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .486. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, while it was King's Fork who put the first runs on the board on Wednesday, it was Norview who put up more. The Bulldogs fell 6-1 to the Pilots. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
King's Fork now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Phoebus, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.
King's Fork's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Phoebus has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .452. It's a different story for King's Fork, though, as they've only averaged .318. Will they be able to contain Phoebus' hitters?
Phoebus might still be hurting after the 15-2 defeat they got from King's Fork when the teams last played back in May of 2015. Can the Phantoms avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
