The Temple Christian Academy Warriors will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Greenville Classical Academy Lions. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Temple Christian Academy has 11 straight victories, Greenville Classical Academy has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Temple Christian Academy stacked a sixth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Barnes Academy 76-40 at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 40-18.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Temple Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jeramy Trangmar, who scored 19 points along with nine assists and five steals. Trangmar is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last ten games he's played. Colton Gaines was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 76-46, which was the final score in Greenville Classical Academy's tilt against Bob Jones Academy on January 8th. While losing is never fun, Greenville Classical Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 260th, while Bob Jones Academy is ranked 78th).
Despite the loss, Greenville Classical Academy had strong showings from Josiah Schvaneveldt, who scored 19 points, and Harris Myers, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Schvaneveldt has scored all season.
Temple Christian Academy's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.7 points per game. As for Greenville Classical Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.
Friday's match is shaping up to be a scrappy matchup: Temple Christian Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.3 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Greenville Classical Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 13.6 rebounds per game. Given Temple Christian Academy's sizeable advantage in that area, Greenville Classical Academy will need to find a way to close that gap.
Temple Christian Academy skirted past Greenville Classical Academy 50-47 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Does Temple Christian Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Greenville Classical Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
