Baseball Game Preview: Wayne Academy Jaguars vs. Simpson Academy Cougars

For the second straight game, Wayne Academy will face off against Simpson Academy. The Jaguars will be playing at home against the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

It was a proper cat-fight when Wayne Academy duked it out with Simpson Academy on Tuesday. The Jaguars took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars. The defeat continues a trend for the Jaguars in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost three in a row.

Tyler Wooten spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Wayne Academy saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cohen Walley, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Simpson Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season.
