The Chipley Tigers just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Ponce De Leon Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on December 22nd. Chipley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Ponce De Leon likes a good challenge.
On Thursday, Chipley took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 66-32 victory over Liberty County. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-19.
It was another big night for Albert McKinnie, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. The match was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ta'shaun Sims, who scored eight points along with five assists.
Meanwhile, Ponce De Leon suffered a rough 64-38 loss at the hands of Paxton on Monday. While losing is never fun, Ponce De Leon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 466th, while Paxton is ranked 225th).
Chipley has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 3-4 record this season. As for Ponce De Leon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.
Chipley took their win against Ponce De Leon in their previous meeting back in February by a conclusive 64-44. Will Chipley repeat their success, or does Ponce De Leon have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
