Cornerstone Family is 9-1 against Whitefield Academy since December of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Cornerstone Family Saints will head out on the road to square off against the Whitefield Academy Lions at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Cornerstone Family focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday.
Last Friday, Cornerstone Family had to suffer through a rough 62-33 loss at the hands of Burlingame. Cornerstone Family has not had much luck with Burlingame recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Kaylee Heinen, who scored 13 points along with five steals. That was a full 39.4% of Cornerstone Family's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Culberth, who scored eight points along with six steals.
Meanwhile, Whitefield Academy came up short against Shawnee Mission Christian on Friday and fell 37-30.
Whitefield Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Martha Guensche, who scored ten points, and Natalie Jones who scored five points.
Cornerstone Family's record is now 10-8. Whitefield Academy's record now sits at 5-5.
Cornerstone Family took their victory against Whitefield Academy in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 54-30. Will Cornerstone Family repeat their success, or does Whitefield Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
