Grundy County is 0-5 against Community since January of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Grundy County Yellowjackets will head out on the road to face off against the Community Vikings/Viqueens at 6:00 p.m. Grundy County is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
Last Saturday, Grundy County came up short against Cascade and fell 59-49.
Carlee Smartt put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 19 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Kallie Parson, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Community unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. The matchup between Community and East Hickman County wasn't particularly close, with Community falling 43-25. While losing is never fun, Community can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 256th, while East Hickman County is ranked 72nd).
Despite the loss, Community had strong showings from Alyssa White, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds, and Anna Haskins, who scored 12 points.
Grundy County's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-4. As for Community, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-13.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Grundy County have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Community struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.3 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Grundy County was taken down by Community 60-23 in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Grundy County was down 32-11.
