For the first time this season, Jackson North Side will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They and the Jackson South Side Hawks will meet in a classic North v. South matchup at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Jackson North Side is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.3 runs per game this season.
Jackson North Side barely beat West Carroll the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Jackson North Side was the clear victor by a 14-6 margin over West Carroll on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Indians.
Cross Burgess made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Jackson North Side: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, Zaterrious Coman was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was George Starr, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Jackson North Side kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Jackson South Side beat Battle Ground Academy 12-8 on Monday.
The team relied heavily on Trent Stewart, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Corbin Fesmire, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Jackson South Side's record now sits at 7-2. As for Jackson North Side, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Jackson South Side's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Jackson North Side has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .448. It's a different story for Jackson South Side, though, as they've only averaged .303. Will they be able to contain Jackson North Side's hitters?
Jackson North Side might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Jackson South Side when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Jackson North Side avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
