Southern Choctaw put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 49-33 win over the Choctaw County Tigers. The 49-point effort marked the Indians' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Marcionna Young continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 29 points and 12 rebounds. That's the most points she has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Keri McGee, who posted seven points and ten rebounds.

Southern Choctaw was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Choctaw County only posted four assists.

Karmen Lewis and Kamya Straight certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Lewis had eight points and eight rebounds, while Straight put up 18 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Straight's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Southern Choctaw pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.5 points per game. As for Choctaw County, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.

Southern Choctaw will take on Jackson at 2:30 p.m. on December 31st. As for Choctaw County, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Marengo at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Marengo's defense has only allowed 29.1 points per game this season, so Choctaw County's offense will have their work cut out for them.
