After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Happy Camp, Bethel Christian were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They secured a 42-38 W over Big Valley. For Bethel Christian, this counts as revenge for the 51-20 defeat Big Valley walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
Bethel Christian was led to victory by Rad Schenkenberger and Braden Johnson. Schenkenberger dropped a double-double on 13 points and 17 rebounds, while Johnson scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least a third of Bethel Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Abraham Mast, who scored six points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Bethel Christian pushed their record up to 3-8 with that win, which was their third straight at home. As for Big Valley, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7.
Bethel Christian will head out on the road to square off against Hayfork at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hayfork knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Bethel Christian likes a good challenge. As for Big Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Butte Valley at 2:00 p.m.
