Basketball Recap: J.J. Gwaltney and Jaxton Faulkenberry Secure Win for Herrin

Herrin put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 53-41 victory over the DuQuoin Indians. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Leading Herrin to victory were Jaxton Faulkenberry and J.J. Gwaltney. Faulkenberry shot 4-for-5 from downtown and dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten boards, while Gwaltney shot 50% from the field on his way to 13 points. What's more, Gwaltney also posted a 50% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Braxton Dann, who posted six points.

Herrin's win bumped their record up to 3-0.

Herrin has already played their next contest, a 71-58 defeat against Sparta on the 6th. As for DuQuoin, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 54-24 victory against Carmi-White County on the 3rd.
