East Duplin and Southwest Onslow are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The East Duplin Panthers the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Southwest Onslow Stallions at 8:00 p.m. on January 23rd. East Duplin will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 605th, while Southwest Onslow is ranked 223rd).
Last Friday, East Duplin ended up a good deal behind Wallace-Rose Hill and lost 59-44.
The losing side was boosted by Calvin Harper, who scored 18 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Luke Hughes, who scored six points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Southwest Onslow stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. Everything went their way against James Kenan as Southwest Onslow made off with a 85-61 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
East Duplin's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Southwest Onslow, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.
East Duplin suffered a grim 66-40 defeat to Southwest Onslow in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can East Duplin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
