The Lyons Lions had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They enjoyed a cozy 85-67 victory over Union Colony Prep on Wednesday. Lyons' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Caleb Christiansen continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 30 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Payton Bolkovatz, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.
Union Colony Prep's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tanner Sarchet, who scored 23 points. Josiah Rodriguez was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with eight rebounds.
Union Colony Prep struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Lyons pulled down 13 offensive rebounds.
Lyons' victory ended a 12-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-9. As for Union Colony Prep, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lyons will take on Clear Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Clear Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Wednesday. As for Union Colony Prep, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Front Range Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Front Range Christian is ranked 327th, while Union Colony Prep is ranked 315th).
