Las Plumas and Gridley are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Las Plumas Thunderbirds will be playing at home against the Gridley Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Las Plumas sitting on five straight victories and Gridley on six.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up eight more assists than your opponent, a fact Las Plumas proved on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 66-50 win over Orland.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Las Plumas to victory, but perhaps none more so than Elijah Laster, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Laster has scored all season. Another player making a difference was T.J. Thompson, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Gridley stacked a tenth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They breezed by Oroville on the road to the tune of 59-29. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 31-10.
Gridley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Bikram Kullar out in front who scored eight points along with six steals and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiko Castillo, who scored 15 points.
Las Plumas is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Gridley, they pushed their record up to 15-5 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Las Plumas couldn't quite finish off Gridley in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 and fell 63-60. Can Las Plumas avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
