It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Tyrone Bobcats ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They escaped with a win against Booker by the margin of a single free throw, 39-38. Given Tyrone's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 333rd in Oklahoma, while Booker is ranked 904th in Texas), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Booker's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Xavier Aguilera, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Adrian Rosales, who scored 11 points.
Tyrone's win bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Booker, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-6.
After both having extra time off, Tyrone and Goodwell will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Booker will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Sanford-Fritch at 7:30 p.m. on January 12, 2024.
