Flag Football Recap: Whitley Sikes Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Brookstone

Northside's rock-solid defense showed up for the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 26-0 margin over the Brookstone Cougars. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 26 points or more this season.

Northside got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Whitley Sikes out in front who threw for 174 yards and three TDs, and also punched in one rushing score. Sania Morgan was another key player, gaining 129 total yards and a touchdown.

Northside didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Morgan, Jaziray Berrio, and Heidi Swain picked up one apiece. Berrio also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with nine.

Northside's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Brookstone, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northside will host LaGrange at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Brookstone, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Shaw at 5:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Cougars 14.5, the Raiders 5) so any points scored will be well earned.
