The Worth County Tigers had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. They walked away with a 57-46 win over Mound City/Craig. Given Worth County's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 160th, while the are ranked 454th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Worth County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tyler New out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. New has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb New, who scored 13 points.
Worth County pushed their record up to 15-2 with that victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.9 points per game. As for Mound City/Craig, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.
Worth County will be playing at home against the Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mound City/Craig, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Blue Jays at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. Hopefully Rock Port focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Friday.
