Ilwaco is 10-0 against Ocosta since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Ilwaco Fishermen will head out on the road to square off against the Ocosta Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Ilwaco has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Ilwaco scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat North Beach 86-22 at home. Ilwaco has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 22 points or more this season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Ocosta ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They breezed by Non Varsity Opponent at home to the tune of 52-19. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Ocosta has posted yet this season.
Anna Davis was her usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double on 32 points, 18 rebounds, and ten steals. Davis is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Brynn Rasmus, who scored two points along with five steals.
Ilwaco's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Ocosta, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season.
Everything went Ilwaco's way against Ocosta when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as Ilwaco made off with a 71-49 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ilwaco since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
