Fishers has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Carroll Chargers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Saturday, Fishers faced Hamilton Southeastern in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Fishers fell just short of Hamilton Southeastern by a score of 70-67.
Talia Harris put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 29 points along with nine rebounds and six assists. Those 29 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevaeh Dickman, who scored 18 points.
Meanwhile, Carroll scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They walked away with a 74-62 win over Fort Wayne Wayne. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Carroll.
Carroll can attribute much of their success to Jersey Paul, who scored 31 points, and Lily George, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Paul has scored at least 25% of Carroll's points. Another player making a difference was Jaidyn Fuller, who scored five points along with eight assists and three steals.
Fishers' loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-4. As for Carroll, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-8.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Fishers hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 56.9 points per game. It's a different story for Carroll, though, as they've been averaging only 49.3 points per game. The only thing between Fishers and another offensive beatdown is Carroll. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Fishers didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Carroll in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 51-45 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Carroll's Kayla Gibbs, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. Now that she won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Fishers to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
