Basketball Recap: Jason Buehler Key Part of Team Effort in Warriors Win

It may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but Gramercy Christian ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 79-77 win over Coastal Brigade. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with Coastal Brigade: they've now won three in a row.

Gramercy Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jason Buehler led the charge by shooting 44% from the field on his way to 22 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sam Long, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 18 boards.

Gramercy Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 28 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 20 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Coastal Brigade's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Beau Brake, who almost dropped a double-double with 31 points and nine rebounds. The game was Brake's third in a row with at least 18 points. Cade Lewis was another key player, putting up 16 points along with seven assists and five steals.

Gramercy Christian now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Coastal Brigade, the defeat snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 7-2 record.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gramercy Christian will face off against Epiphany at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors will be up against the Falcons' rather soft defense (which has allowed 54.17 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Coastal Brigade, they will challenge Bethel Assembly Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
