The Anthem Prep Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 31 points or more this season. Couldn't have asked for a better start to 2024 than the 65-34 blowout they got at home against Valley Lutheran. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Anthem Prep also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Anthem Prep's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Titus Franklin, who scored 19 points. Franklin continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Rithik Kolli was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Anthem Prep's win bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Valley Lutheran, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Anthem Prep will take on Cicero Prep Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Cicero Prep Academy is on a five-game streak of home wins, Anthem Prep a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Valley Lutheran's road trip will continue as they head out to face Phoenix Day School for the Deaf at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th.
