The Blackduck Drakes suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Thursday. They were dealt a 100-58 defeat at the hands of Red Lake. While losing is never fun, Blackduck can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 383rd, while Red Lake is ranked 115th).
It was another big night for Gerald Kingbird jr, who scored 37 points along with five assists and four steals for Red Lake. Kingbird jr is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Tyrone Beaulieu Jr was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Blackduck and nudges their season record down to 3-9. As for Red Lake, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blackduck will take on Kelliher/Northome at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Red Lake will take on Pine River-Backus at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
