The Cimarron-Memorial Spartans will face off against the Western Warriors at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Cimarron-Memorial came out on top against Valley on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 13-run first inning. The Spartans were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Vikings. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Wyatt 'Majji' Barboa made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Cimarron-Memorial is 5-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 3-16 otherwise. Barboa was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Western made easy work of Cheyenne on Tuesday and carried off a 9-1 win. Considering the Warriors have won nine games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Cimarron-Memorial, Western also got a great game from a two-way player: Edgar Garcia. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Garcia has posted since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two triples, five RBI, and two runs. He has been hot recently, having posted five or more RBI the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, Adrian Diaz was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Leonel Gonzalez, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Cimarron-Memorial's victory bumped their record up to 8-18. As for Western, the win got them back to even at 13-13.
Cimarron-Memorial might still be hurting after the 10-1 defeat they got from Western in their previous meeting back in March. Will the Spartans have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
