After flying high against Warrensville Heights last Friday, Maple Heights came back down to earth. Maple Heights fell to Cleveland Heights 21-12. If the result catches you off guard, it should: the Mustangs were the far and away favorite.
Maple Heights' loss pushes them down to 7-3. The victory (their ninth in a row) raised Cleveland Heights' record to 9-1.
The Mustangs will take on Avon Lake at 7 p.m. ET on Friday. Coming off of a loss in a game they were expected to win, Maple Heights now face the more daunting task of proving themselves against unfavorable odds. The Tigers will be staying on the road, facing off against Mentor. The Tigers don't have the home-field advantage, but they do enjoy an advantage in the MaxPreps rankings.
