Kacie Carman was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Emily Pleva was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025. Brooklyn Salvaggio also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Cardinal hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Maplewood was able to grind out a solid victory over Pymatuning Valley on Thursday, taking the game 7-2.
Like Cardinal, Maplewood also got a great game from a two-way player: Addison Marker. She struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and not a single walk). Marker was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lexi Yannucci, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Raegan Krieg was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base.
Cardinal's record is now 9-7. As for Maplewood, their record now sits at 20-1.
Cardinal couldn't quite get it done against Maplewood when the teams last played back in March of 2025 as they fell 4-0. Can the Huskies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
