Frisco's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Sherman's QB won't forget Slade Leaumont anytime soon given he sacked him twice. Leaumont has been hot recently, having also posted eight or more total tackles the last three times he's played. Another thorn in Sherman's side was Harrison Hicks, who made 12 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, while Wakeland put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Heritage. The Wolverines blew past the Coyotes 45-0. That 45 point margin sets a new team best for the Wolverines this season.
A big part of Wakeland's victory came down to the chemistry between Lucas Mangham and his top target Grayson Myer. Mangham picked up 83 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns while Myer picked up 136 receiving yards and two scores.
Wakeland didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Austin Liddell and Preston Lowery. Wakeland received some extra help from Blake Landry, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Frisco's record is now 4-1. As for Wakeland, their record now sits at 7-0.
Frisco and Wakeland were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, but Frisco came up empty-handed after a 21-20 loss. Can the Raccoons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
