If the Thompson Valley Eagles were feeling good off their 69-29 takedown of the Fort Morgan Mustangs last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Thompson Valley took a 52-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Severance. Thompson Valley was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Severance apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Severance was led to victory by Molly Sporleder and Reece Yahn. Sporleder scored six points along with seven steals and three blocks, while Yahn scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Sporleder posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Erin Crownhart, who scored six points.
Thompson Valley has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season. As for Severance, their win bumped their record up to 6-9.
Thompson Valley won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Northridge at 6:30 p.m. on January 25th. That game will pit two of the most dominant against one another: Sophia Carbajal and Paige Wagner. As for Severance, Severance and Mountain View will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 25th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Mountain View focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 34 last Tuesday.
