The Penney Hornets will head out to square off against the South Holt Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Penney put up the most runs they have all season on Monday. They blew past Polo 18-1. The victory was nothing new for the Hornets as they're now sitting on three straight.
Hudson Creekmore made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Creekmore was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run. Those RBI were his first of the season.
In other batting news, Jack Cooley was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Alex Ohlberg, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Penney always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .758. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
South Holt came out on top against Tarkio on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run fifth inning. The Knights put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 11-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won three in a row.
The team relied heavily on Tayte Prussman, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with six stolen bases and three runs. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2 stolen bases per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Kameron Noland, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs.
The win got Penney back to even at 3-3. As for South Holt, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Penney has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .505. However, it's not like South Holt struggles in that department as they've averaged .436. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Penney couldn't quite finish off South Holt in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 and fell 10-8. Can the Hornets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
