Suburban - Blue recap November 19, 2013
Liberty North's Bryce Shepherd recorded the longest rushing play in Suburban - Blue this season in his game against Bolivar last week. Shepherd's team bested the Liberators as he sprinted for 83 yards on the play and finished with 87 in all.
This was the team's 10th consecutive win.
Liberty North's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Marvin Shumate chipped in 209 yards.
Shumate provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Ken Clemens' team topped Bolivar.
Shumate was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 209 yards on 30 carries as the Eagles defeated Lance Roweton's team. Shepherd also contributed to the rushing game with 87 yards on the ground.
Thanks to the talents of Austin Hinck and Brock Broughton, the Bulldogs have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Hinck is tops in the league in passing with 2,253 yards, while Broughton has rushed for 1,967 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is Liberty North's Paul Silvio, with 981 yards on 61 catches.
The Eagles' Brian Sharp is within 187 passing yards of surpassing 2,000 on the season coming into this week's game against Helias. Accruing a total of 15 touchdowns this year, Sharp has thrown for 1,813 yards with 12 interceptions.
Liberty North's Silvio needs only 19 receiving yards against the Crusaders to crack 1,000 for the season. So far this year, he has acheived 61 catches for 981 yards.
The Eagles were able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after besting the Liberators. Liberty North came in at 16 in the state poll after placing at number 35 last week.
