The L.E.A.D. Academy Lions took care of business in their home opener on Monday (barely). They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Pensacola Catholic 36-33.
L.E.A.D. Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kamryn Lay out in front who scored 7 points along with 10 rebounds and 4 steals. Another player making a difference was Emily Harold, who scored 4 points along with 7 rebounds and 4 steals.
Pensacola Catholic's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Riley Walsh, who scored 7 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Krystiana Chatman, who scored 6 points along with 4 steals.
L.E.A.D. Academy's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Pensacola Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. L.E.A.D. Academy will take on Central at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Pensacola Catholic, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against West Florida Baptist Academy at 6:00 p.m. West Florida Baptist Academy is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
