Olentangy has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Dublin Jerome Celtics at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Olentangy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 277 points over their last four games.
Last Friday, Olentangy strolled past Hilliard Darby with points to spare, taking the game 57-38. Given Olentangy's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Hilliard Darby is ranked 244th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Olentangy's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Whitney Stafford, who scored 14 points along with two steals, and Sydney Mobley, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds. Mobley has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chayla Rankin, who scored ten points.
Even though Dublin Jerome has not done well against New Albany recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Dublin Jerome walked away with a 54-42 victory over New Albany. The victory was nothing new for Dublin Jerome as they're now sitting on three straight.
Olentangy pushed their record up to 19-1 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points per game. As for Dublin Jerome, their win bumped their record up to 14-6.
Olentangy took their victory against Dublin Jerome in their previous matchup back in January by a conclusive 57-36. The rematch might be a little tougher for Olentangy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
