The Banneker Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 25 points or more this season. Couldn't have asked for a better start to 2024 than the 52-3 blowout they got at home against Cardozo. The team ran away with 40 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the victory.
Banneker's win on Wednesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kylee Deskins, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds. That's the first time this season that Deskins scored 15 or more points. Rainelle McNeill was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals.
Banneker's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-3. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 29.64 points. As for Cardozo, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Banneker will take on Coolidge at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Cardozo will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Anacostia at 5:30 p.m. on January 17th.
