The Y Yuma came tearing into Tuesday's game with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 87-20 win over Haxtun. Y's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Y's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cristian Duarte, who scored 23 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Duarte has scored all season. Brody Sheffield was another key contributor, scoring 21 points.
Y pushed their record up to 8-1 with that victory, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Haxtun, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.
Y will head out on the road to square off against Akron at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Haxtun, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sedgwick County at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
